Wow has time flown by! The last two months have been bananas... but not suprising because it is the busiest time of year for dancers.
Some highlights for over the last two months have been
1.) Judging Heat the Streetz in Steinbach last weekend. So many talented dancers and such a great day of battles.
2.) Working with the Drag King Lex Contrata on their debut performance.
3.) Teaching a Vogue Workshop at Amber Trails Community School to dancers age 12-15 years old.
4,) Completing another year of teaching an amazing group of dance educators about street style dance forms.
5.) Learning about women's fancy shawl dancing from Danni Sky
6.) Writing my first two arts council grants. It was very stressful and exhausting experience, but I defintely learned a lot! I'm still awating the outcome.
Some upcoming events happening in the hip hop dance community in our city include:
Saturday, June 23rd - Peg City Movement 2018
Sunday, June 29th & 30th - The Exchange Dance Battle
Saturday, July 14th - Double Trouble
I will be teaching two dancehall workshops over the summer through Stilleto Studio.
Wednesday, July 4th, 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm at Great Wall of Dance, 1455 Waverley St #3
Wednesday, August 22nd, 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm at Great Wall of Dance, 1455 Waverley St #3
I also very excited to say that this summer I will be attending conferences, training, and battling in NYC for two weeks this summer. If there are any dancers or dance teachers looking to train in the street style dance forms I will be available set up a regurlar dance class throughout the year starting in the fall. I'd love to continue to share what I know! Send me a message if you're interested.
Hope you have a wonderful, exciting, and reinvigourating summer!
